Disordered loops in the two - dimensional antiferromagnetic spin - fermion model

چکیده
The spin-fermion model has long been used to describe the quantum-critical behavior of 2d electron systems near an antiferromagnetic (AFM) instability. Recently, the standard procedure to integrate out the fermions to obtain an effective action for spin waves has been questioned in the clean case. We show that in the presence of disorder, the single fermion loops display two crossover scales: upon lowering the energy, the singularities of the clean fermionic loops are first cut off, but below a second scale new singularities arise that lead again to marginal scaling. In addition, impurity lines between different fermion loops generate new relevant couplings which dominate at low energies. We outline a non-linear σ model formulation of the single-loop problem, which allows to control the higher singularities and provides an effective model in terms of low-energy diffusive as well as spin modes.

In this paper a simple model calculation of spin wave is given for the ferromagtic layer in ultra thin ferromagnetic/antiferromagnetic bilayer. In this model the magnetic layer is assumed as an isolated layer but the effect of antiferromagnetic layer on ferromagnetic layer and unidirectional anisotropy, is given in the effective field applied on each spin. The thin layer is assumed as two-dim...
متن کاملNéel Order and Electron Spectral Functions in the Two-Dimensional Hubbard Model: a Spin-Charge Rotating Frame Approach
Using recently developed quantum SU(2)× U(1) rotor approach, that provides a self-consistent treatment of the antiferromagnetic state we have performed electronic spectral function calculations for the Hubbard model on the square lattice. The collective variables for charge and spin are isolated in the form of the space-time fluctuating U(1) phase field and rotating spin quantization axis gover...
متن کاملConductivity close to antiferromagnetic criticality.
We study the conductivity of a three-dimensional disordered metal close to antiferromagnetic instability within the framework of the spin-fermion model using the diagrammatic technique. We calculate the interaction correction δσ(ω,T) to the conductivity, assuming that the latter is dominated by the disorder scattering, and the interaction is weak. Although the fermionic scattering rate shows cr...
متن کاملSpin Dynamics near the Quantum Critical Point of Heavy-Fermions
The dynamical spin susceptibility is studied in the magnetically-disordered phase of heavy-Fermion systems near the antiferromagnetic quantum phase transition. In the framework of the S = 1/2 Kondo lattice model, we introduce a perturbative expansion treating the spin and Kondo-like degrees of freedom on an equal footing. The general expression of the dynamical spin susceptibility that we deriv...
متن کاملQuantum-critical theory of the spin- fermion model and its application to cuprates: Normal state analysis
We present the full analysis of the normal state properties of the spin–fermion model near the antiferromagnetic instability in two dimensions. The model describes low-energy fermions interacting with their own collective spin fluctuations, which soften at the antiferromagnetic transition. We argue that in 2D, the system has two typical energies—an effective spin–fermion interaction g and an en...
